Your Resume Won't Get Read If ATS Filters You Out First
Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) scan your resume for specific terms before a human ever sees it. Here's how to beat the bots:
- Find the keywords: Look for repeated technical skills, certifications, tools, and action verbs in the job description
- Match the language: If they say "stakeholder management," don't just write "worked with partners"—use their exact phrase
- Add skills when you apply: Many companies let you select skills during application. If you have the skill they list, add it—even if it's on your resume. ATS software often scores these separately.
- Don't keyword stuff: Use keywords naturally in context. "Managed cross-functional teams" beats a random list at the bottom
